National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) recently reported that to date the AMBER Alert program has been credited with the successful recovery of 182 children!

One such success story:

January 5, 2004

Stafford, Virginia

A 10-year-old girl was abducted by her uncle from Baltimore, Maryland. When authorities learned that the suspect might have been traveling in Northern Virginia, an AMBER Alert was issued in Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia. Three motorists soon spotted the vehicle described in the AMBER Alert and notified authorities. The suspect was apprehended and the child was safely recovered.
